News about Phosphorus Pentasulfide

Phosphorus Pentasulfide Hazardous Chemical
The actual molecular formula of Phosphorus Pentasulfide is P4S10, which is a yellow solid. Melting point 276℃. It is stable when dry, but hydrolyzes into phosphoric acid and hydrogen sulfide when exposed to water, so it smells like rotten eggs in the air. Phosphorus pentasulfide is highly toxic.
Emergency treatment and disposal methods:
1. Emergency leakage treatment
Isolate the leaked contaminated area and restrict access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency responders wear self-contained breathing apparatus and fire protective clothing. Do not come into direct contact with spilled material. Small leakage: Cover with dry sand or lime and collect in a dry, clean, covered container. Move to a safe place. Large leakage: Cover with plastic sheet or canvas to reduce scattering. Contact the relevant technical department to determine the removal method.
Waste disposal method: It is recommended that the waste be decomposed with water to generate phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfide. The hydrogen sulfide is washed with a scrubber, the acid is neutralized with alkali and then diluted before being discharged into the sewer.
2. Protective measures
Respiratory system protection: When you may be exposed to its dust, you must wear a self-priming filter dust mask.
Eye protection: Wear chemical safety glasses.
Body protection: Wear chemical protective clothing.
Hand protection: Wear rubber gloves.
Others: Smoking is strictly prohibited at the work site. After work, take a shower and change clothes. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
3. First aid measures
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.
Eye contact: Lift eyelids and rinse with running water or saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Leave the site quickly to fresh air. Keep your airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, perform artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink enough warm water to induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting methods: Firefighters must wear full-body fire-proof and gas-proof clothing. Fire extinguishing media: carbon dioxide, dry powder, sand
